Interesting Scimitar-Horned Oryx Information:
- Scimitar-horned Oryx are a medium-sized antelope of the Oryx species that are accustomed to the harshest desert regions of Africa, primarily the Sahara Desert.
- Scimitar can tolerate an internal body temperature of 116 degrees to avoid sweating and losing water therefore, allowing them to go for long durations without water.
- They are mostly white with reddish-brown markings with long horns that curve backward. Both male & females have horns. The females will typically have a longer/narrower set of horns.
- Gestation: 8-10 months
- Lifespan: 18-20 years
