Interesting Pronghorn Hunting Information:
- Though not an antelope, it is known informally in North America as the American antelope, prong buck, pronghorn antelope and prairie antelope because it closely resembles the antelopes of the Old World.
- Pronghorn are extremely fast and can reach speeds of up to 55 miles per hour, the fastest land mammal in the Americas.
- It is the only animal that has branching horns and sheds them annually.
- Besides having larger horns, males are further differentiated from females in having a small patch of black hair at the angle of the mandible.
- Pronghorns have exceptionally large eyes with a 320-degree field of vision.
- Gestation: Pronghorn have a longer gestation period of seven to eight months. Twin fawns are common.
- Lifespan: 12-14 years
